Background
The HASI-2 "Aegis" is a purpose-built interceptor designed with a high speed and altitude limit. Its purpose is to intercept high-altitude bombers and other high-speed/high-altitude aircraft. It was developed in parallel with the Sequel, Saga, and Prelude. It shares several key components with them. Development had been a tricky process, however, resulting in several delays. While those delays had been ultimately beneficial, it had been concerning for the Martilan military.
Compared to its predecessor, the Aegis has a much higher maximum height and speed. Combined with bleeding-edge homing missiles, it can take care of any airborne threat regardless of altitude or speed.
