The 'Stonewall' Emergency Protection Cell, often simply referred to as 'Stonewall' in shorthand, is a countermeasure to exceptionally powerful weapons.

SUMMARY
The Stonewall is a disposable-use overclocked inertial dampener with a dedicated power supply capable of protecting an asset from forces that would otherwise overwhelm material and mechanical resistance. It trades efficiency against lesser forces for protection from all reasonably-foreseeable extreme threats.
As part of the overclocking process, emergency shutdown from extreme heat is disabled. They are capable of functioning until their internal components melt. Stonewalls are insulated and can be handled safely regardless of internal temperature - even molten.
