The 'Firewall' Neural Abstraction System, often simply referred to as 'Firewall' in shorthand, is a personal protection system against unwanted psychic influence.

SUMMARY
The Firewall is an extensive (multi-bodypart) cognitive and nervous system implant. The Firewall specifically is a cybernetic upgrade of the neurons, replacing certain parts of them with digital equivalents to increase the difficulty of psychic reading and influence. The level of protection provided depends on the extensiveness of enhancement, up to total protection against psychic influence.
The protection may be toggled, and a Task-grade AI that manages the system is capable of activating protection automatically during unexpected psychic intrusion.

The Firewall was developed on date [1,016,658-9-22 GE] by Internal Security in the urgent unfilled need to protect citizens against hostile psychic attacks. It is currently the primary personal psychic protection system in Grandhold society.
