LIFE IN THE WARTIME OF THE GRANDHOLD OF ABYSS (AND OTHER CHANGES)
TIMELINE: Origin-NF
Unlike most other nations in the Galactic Confederation, the UTG-GC war has changed little in day-to-day life of Grandhold citizens. Its utopic economy, extremely low population, soft-authoritarian and monarchic government has allowed the Grandhold to squeak on by without needing to change all that much for regular citizen lives. However, this does not mean that nothing has changed.
Societal Advisory Council: The entirety of the SAC has almost entirely defaulted to blindly following Administration decisions without question. Administration has done nothing to limit the SAC; its members have simply defaulted to putting their trust into the decision-making of Administration. The only exceptions are the few non-Grandhold-Humans elected, but anyone that heavily acts against Administration decisions are being quickly voted out.
War Economy: All industrial output has been placed into the hands of Societal Defense and Internal Security. This includes corporate-owned industrial systems, which constitutes the majority of Grandhold industry. This has resulted in a colossal increase in military production, and a near-complete halt of the production of new consumer goods. Non-military trade deals have also been entirely suspended. This has changed little for citizens, as there are now large stockpiles of consumer goods ready to be utilized by civilians, often for free. Almost all consumer goods are made to last very long as well, so the issue of replacing used goods is nearly moot.
Corporate Stasis: As part of the Grandhold's war economy, all corporations operating in the Grandhold not actively participating in research efforts have been effectively put in stasis; corporations are not gaining any profit, but they aren't having any financial losses either as Administration is handling all operating costs.
Research: Corporations partaking in Phi-Tech research are recieving colossal subsidies by Grandhold Administration to further fuel technological development. This has reduced in an explosive growth of the already-rapid development of new Phi-Techs.
Evacuations & Relocation: Citizens and non-citizens are being routinely forcefully relocated away from Grandhold borders deeper into Grandhold space as the Heavenly Vaepriot Empire pushes into Grandhold territory. These relocations usually affect people for a few hours, rarely more than a day. Currently, there is plentiful housing across the Grandhold to support these relocations, which has meant that not a single citizen has fallen into Vaepriot hands. This will not last forever, however; eventually, the Grandhold will run out of room to shuffle citizens around, and worlds will start to be invaded by the Vaepriot.
Remote Soldiers: Societal Defense is initiating a gradual phase-out physically-present soldiers, instead favoring remote control by soldiers. This has been planned for a long time due to Societal Defense's dissatisfaction with the survivability of its soldiers, and is finally being done. Progress on the conversion is slow as soldiers have a high survivability against the Vaepriot; while captures of soldiers are unideal, the fact the Vaepriot aren't executing soldiers is easing the Grandhold's fears. The conversion will pick up in pace drastically once the Grandhold begins fighting the Morlhans themselves.
(GRANDHOLD) VOICES OF THE MASSES
TIMELINE: Origin-NF
The Grandhold's membership in the Galactic Confederation changed its developmental trajectory forever. The ideals of the GC have, over the incredible span of time the Grandhold has been a part of the GC, slowly bled into the Grandhold. The ideals of democracy have at last festered in the Grandhold in the form of the many great compromises made between the Reformist and Traditionalist political factions (in addition to Epoch Abyss). The Grandhold of Abyss is no longer an absolute monarchy. Instead, it has transformed into a limited semi-constitutional monarchy.
The Abyss dynasty has been retained, though its power has somewhat diminished. The Grandhold Administrator remains a hereditary role, though it functions more like a particularly powerful (but also permament and heriditary) presidency. In addition to the regular powers of (compared to the US) president, vetos are absolute (cannot be overridden), the GA is immune to impeachment, the GA has the final say on successor (except when dead or MIA, in which case a new GA must be made and trained from Abyss genomic data), and the ability to dismiss an Administrator at will.
The Societal Advisory Council has completely evolved into the Administrative Council. No longer a simple rubber-stamping body, the Administrative Council is an expanded (ten-thousand members large, to be exact), capable, and legitimized body which acts as a parliament. The Administrative council is a wholly-democratic body which undergoes elections every decade. The Administrative Council is the body which confirms the selection of an Administrator.
The Grandhold Administrator's Vows (which functioned as the rules which the Grandhold Administrator played by in the past) have been replaced by the Administrative Definition, a constitution-like document which codifies the existence, powers, and responsibilities of both the Grandhold Administrator and Administrative Council.
The NF-Grandhold's new administrative system is, as stated previously, the result of compromises between the Reformist (democratic) faction, Traditionalist (monarchic) faction, and Epoch Abyss himself. The current system functions as a balance between the Reformist desire for the general populace to have a direct say in how the Grandhold is governed, the Traditionalist desire for the capable Abyss bloodline to rule over and guide Grandhold society, and Epoch's separate desire for the Grandhold's government functions to be completely insulated from political influence. In the end, the system acts as an acceptable compromise that all three parties ended up content with.
One such example is the Division Administrator (aka General Administrator) compromise; the Reformists had wanted say over who administrated Divisions, while Epoch wanted Administrators to remain insulated from political influence. The resulting compromise was that the Administrative Council was the sole body which could confirm a Division Administrator's selection (making it solely the people who decided who exactly would administrate a Division), but the Grandhold Administrator could unilaterally veto a selection or dismiss an active Administrator (allowing a Grandhold Administrator to deny a politically-motivated appointment). In practice, Division Administrators remain wholly merit-based appointments immune to political influence.
Though the Reformist faction is pro-democracy and the Traditionalist faction is pro-monarchy, there is no major political tension between them or the Abyss monarchy. The Reformists are not and have never been (barring early on and in some circles) anti-Abyss, while the Traditionalists are not and were never completely anti-democracy. Epoch Abyss, before he had stepped down from the throne, was never anti-Reformist either, and was ultimately willing to listen and make compromises in a manner which everyone was tolerant to, and later content with.

ZENITH WAR IN ORIGIN
TIMELINE: Origin-NF
The Grandhold's organic military has been rapidly growing since it had arrived to Origin, largely due to migrants from the other superpowers having a far higher likelihood of having interest in the military than Grandhold citizens.
Already threatening to outnumber the few trillion organic soldiers of the Grandhold are Dhatri, who are several exponents more likely to want to join the military than Grandhold-Humans. It is expected that Dhatri will outnumber Grandhold-Humans in the near future.
In the grand scheme of things, Dhatri migration into the Grandhold is minor from a general lack of need to migrate, but the miniscule population of the Grandhold combined with their even more miniscule organic military has made the relative effect of Dhatri migrants almost ridiculously disproportionate.
EXHAUSTIONLESS ETHERS, AND HOW DEBORAH IS AN EXCEPTION
TIMELINE: Origin-NF
UHC ETHERs generally don't experience exhaustion from psychic exertion, and are always at their peak psychic output as long as they're in good health. In turn, ETHERs literally can't push themselves beyond their regular limits psychically, so if you manage to somehow overpower a ETHER, you can be certain that that ETHER won't have any tricks up their sleeve to turn the tides back in their favor, as a ETHER never needs to conserve their psychic power. All UHC ETHER operatives also have around the same base raw psychic strength; while ETHERs *can* become effectively stronger with practice and training, there are no prodigies or exceptions. This makes expert ETHERs even more valuable, since a powerful ETHER can only come from experience.
Deborah is an exception to this, due to Jamison's Phi-Gen2 nanites that are still inside her brain. Deborah has the highest raw psychic power of any UHC ETHER operative, at the cost of her ability to focus. Deborah is also able to push her mind past its own limits, but it also gradually harms her ability to focus and pay attention to anything. Eventually, Deborah can push herself to the point that her attention completely shatters, and Deborah effectively blacks out for several seconds.
Deborah has also learned that she can't multitask at all anymore, and she can only be consistent in her psychic abilities if she does them one at a time, hyperfocusing on each task to get them done quickly and flawlessly.

ZENITH WAR IN ORIGIN
TIMELINE: Origin-NF
The Zenith War in Origin is functionally identical to the one that took place in Reboot, only that the Origin Zenith War took place thousands of years earlier, immediately before the Qiuans, Mortaz, and Caetians rose to superpower status.
The only nations still around today that participated in the Zenith War are still the Kalip and Noxingail.
ANDROMEDA DEADZONES: THE QUIET CENTER
TIMELINE: Origin-NF
Andromeda's galactic center is known to have once belonged to a powerful ancient empire of incredible age, that vanished shortly after the first known appearance of the Timeless. Little is known of this ancient empire, as all major traces and direct evidence of their existence up and vanished those millions of years ago, with no explanation as to where the ancients went.
The only knowledge of their former existence is, in fact, because of records from other ancient empires that considered the galactic-center ancients to have been beyond ancient when they themselves went interstellar. All of those ancient empires deeply feared the precursor nation, and warned any other nations they knew about to never explore the galactic center, even after the precursors vanished.
Such warnings have carried down through untold cycles, with few peoples daring to try and settle within Andromeda's galactic center. There have been some exceptions, but those that have dared rarely did so for more than a few decades or centuries, with the number of millennia-long empires countable on two Human hands. Nations that settled the galactic center just seemed to not last as long as others, even when attaining an advantageous position.
In a few surviving records, a single word is spoken about who these ancient precursors were called: Falon.
GALACTIC INTEGRATION: GRANDHOLD OF ABYSS
TIMELINE: Origin-NF
The Grandhold of Abyss is somewhat of an exception in the trend of galactic integration. The Grandhold is an export-heavy nation; through its corporations which actively control the vast majority of the Grandhold's industrial base. In turn, the Grandhold primarily imports raw materials from other nations, particularly the Kreal Republic who maintain a similar trade relationship as they did with the Timeless.
Unlike the Timeless Fracture Colony, the Grandhold maintains the ability to go completely self-sufficient; the Grandhold possesses enough territory to sustain itself at a superpower level, and it being far ahead technologically necessitates being able to not rely on any other nation for its economy, alongside the Grandhold's economy having been structured in a self-sufficient manner for over a million years.
EPOCH ABYSS' OPINION ON POST-UTG WAR POLICY
TIMELINE: Origin-NF
Before the end of the end of the UTG-GC war, Epoch Abyss made a public release on his opinion of certain things that should happen after the GC wins the war. The below piece is how Epoch wrote it.
DISCLAIMER OF OPINION
I am wholly aware that several aspects of my opinion is unrealistic given the current political circumstances. While I expect to compromise on several things during internal GC negotiations, these are my opinions and I will not withhold my beliefs.
GENERAL OUTCOMES OF THE MULTIGALACTIC WAR
- All attempts to force annexation of any kind that involve the exchange of populations are to be unconditionally opposed. The people of societies are not to be removed from their governments without their express permission and desire.
DENIED; GC VOTE - All current members of the Union of Three Galaxies are to be demilitarized, and their administrations put under intensive review. Administrations found to have performed an arbitrarily high number of severe crimes against their own citizens are to be removed, and a new administration established by the wills of its citizens.
APPROVED; GC VOTE - All individuals who have provingly, wrongly acted in regards to the UTG-GC war are to be rehabilitated of their crimes. No punishments except which directly serve the purpose of rehabilitation are to be performed, nor are criminals to be murdered ("executed") by the Galactic Confederation.
COMPROMISE; GC VOTE, LESSER OFFENDERS REHABILITATED - All nations who have taken direct damage of any manifestable way from the UTG-GC war are to be offered assistance to rebuild their industries and get as close to their original economic healthiness as they were before the UTG-GC war.
APPROVED; GC VOTE
SPECIFIC OUTCOMES OF THE MULTIGALACTIC WAR
- The Heavenly Vaepriot Empire is to be spared from all punishments, excluding demilitarization. The Vaepriot are perhaps the most moral combatant of this entire war due to their refusal to utilize hyperweapons in any manner and sparing all civilians and combatants they come across, whilst also avoid collateral damage at all costs.
APPROVED; GC VOTE - The Morlhan Sovereignty is to be punished beyond fullest extent as covered here; the government is to be replaced with a new one decided wholly by the Galactic Confederation, with only supplementary input from its citizens. The immoral conditioning of Morlhan Sovereignty citizens currently prevents those citizens from being truly capable of choosing a better path for their society.
APPROVED; GC VOTE - The Azakalan Empire is to be territorially reunified, and then a new government is to be established by the will of its citizens.
DENIED; GC VOTE & ZELIX OPPOSITION - The Etan Republics' forceful replacing of UTG-member administrations is to be suspended, and the affected nations' citizens are to be given a vote with three choices; the imposed administration may be sustained, a new one established by the will of its citizens, or the prior administration is to be wholly restored.
DENIED; ETAN REFUSAL - The Zelix Imperium's territory acquisitions over the UTG-GC war are to be unconditionally reversed.
DENIED; GC VOTE & ZELIX OPPOSITION - The Instrumo Collective's territory acquisitions over the UTG-GC war are to be unconditionally reversed. Reparations for genocidally-murdered citizens of the Yalvahn United Council Republics are to be considered.
DENIED; INSTRUMO REFUSAL - The Alpikari Republic is to be territorially reunified, and then its administration is to be put under review.
DENIED; GC VOTE & ZELIX OPPOSITION
(GRANDHOLD) INITIATIVE FOR A SHARED ETERNITY
TIMELINE: Origin-NF (post-ending)
The Initiative for a Shared Eternity was a major effort by the Grandhold of Abyss over the decades and centuries following the Morlhan War to cure various long-standing (as described by the Grandhold) genetic diseases, from actual genetic defects among species to aging itself. It had begun in a small scale before the Morlhan War, but was invested in by the Grandhold government earnestly following it.
After the Great Compromise and the subsequent founding the Administrative Council, the Initiative for a Shared Eternity was expanded to share the Grandhold's technologies with the GC as a whole, gradually uplifting the entire GC to Zenith-era, and later Phi-era.
The Initiative for a Shared Eternity was considered a resounding success in the end, after many, many years of ceaseless effort to bring the GC up to the Grandhold's standards of modernity.
EXPLODOBOY'S CHARACTER CONCLUSIONS FOR NEW FRONTIER
TIMELINE: Origin-NF (post-ending)
Aonpax: Aonpax attained dual citizenship in the Grandhold sometime after his departure from Outpost One, joining in Phi-Tech research efforts before, during, and after the Morlhan War. Decades later, once the Grandhold reached its zenith in Phi-Gen1, he returned to living mostly in the Aefanian Inhact.
Benjamin Stevenson: Benjamin stayed at Outpost One for a few years, eventually leaving to stay with Deborah after she became a UHC General. He eventually became clinically immortal via Grandhold aging curing.
Civna Voxel: Civna left Outpost One a few weeks after the end of the Morlhan War, and joined the Grandhold's effort to repair the three galaxies from the damage wrought by the war. Later, she joined the Grandhold's effort to cure aging and many other genetic diseases across the three galaxies. She frequently visited Outpost One for as long as Joxia worked on it.
Deborah Stevenson: A few months after the end of the Morlhan War, Deborah left Outpost One to pursue her military career. Following in Zackary Stevenson's footsteps, she eventually became a high-ranking General of the UHC.
Hixir Wocik: After the Morlhan War, Hixir was promoted to the subrank of team overseer. Alongside Octia, he founded the DEVIL squadron; a team of exceptionally-skilled STARGUARD who were essentially the Grandhold's equivalent to Entalis. After Octia left, he remained as the sole leader of the DEVILs. Eventually, the DEVILs' skill came to match Entalis. Hixir used OP1 as the DEVILs' main base due to its strategic proximity, never truly leaving it...as far into forever as I can see, anyways.
Itrox Terat: Itrox remained as the CG's (and therefore OP1's) protection fleet overseer, guarding the wormhole during the following time of peace. He came to be the highest overseer of the DEVIL squad.
Joxia Unokt: Joxia remained on Outpost One after Civna left, continuing to be a direct subordinate deputy to the security officer for the foreseeable future.
Sequo Feiru: Sequo continued to command Outpost One for a few decades, before resigning to allow somebody else to take his position while he went to pursue the Development Gen-Admin role. He never quite achieved his longtime dream--not that it bothered him. In the meantime, he helped spread the Grandhold's technologies to the GC, and eventually returned to Outpost One to command it for the foreseeable future.
Octia Revil: Octia rose to the rank of SocDef Overseer shortly after the Morlhan War, eventually usurping Iriad Feiru as SocDef Gen-Admin over the following centuries. She remained in her position for a few million years, before eventually being usurped herself and deciding to leave Societal Defense after an unfathomably long and successful career.
Yoiba Velon: Yoiba remained as OP1's quartermaster for a few decades, leaving with Sequo to make way for a new quartermaster. From there, she pursued equivalent jobs to her Populace Administrator role in other nations, for the sake of experiencing other societies. Long later, when the Grandhold founded its Administrative Council, Yoiba was one of the first people in.
CATEGORY: INVERSION
Part of the NF continuity, but in the dark mirror universe.
THE GRANDEST EMPIRE
TIMELINE: Origin-NF/Inversion
The inverted version of the Grandhold of Abyss is the Grand Human Empire; the dystopic regime that 'preceded' the Grandhold. It is a true dark reflection of the Grandhold, holding onto much of what made the Grandhold good while shifting things well into a dystopia of sorts. Its citizens still enjoy an enjoyable, pleasurable and fulfilling existence, but they also hold no true reverence for life and are willing to kill and forcefully change if it would serve to benefit their country. And yet, none fear retribution for thinking or doing wrong; opposing thoughts are disallowed from forming in the first place, and there is forgiveness for those truly willing to improve.
The Grand Human Empire utterly hates the Galactic Empire, viewing their allies with contempt in every way. From their economy to their culture to their technology, they are inferior and unworthy of standing alongside, much less lording over the GHE.
Due to their general hatred of the GE, they are less integrated than most members. They do not try to oppose the GE directly, however. They do what is demanded of them to contribute, though if they think the orders are dumb they will not hesitate to send the bare minimum to vaguely satisfy expectations.
Their hatred and frustration with the GE is only bound to grow and grow as the incompetent galactic federation, and one day they will surely have enough.
DON'T TOUCH THE GRANDIES
TIMELINE: Origin-NF/Inversion
It is widely considered to be a very bad idea to assassinate a Grand Human Empire citizen to obtain whatever position they hold in the Galactic Empire. GHE-Citizens are in general difficult to kill as their soldiers are highly willing to protect their own, and it is common for a would-be assassin to find themselves the target for 'lethal retaliation' by GHE-Citizens, regardless of if their assassination attempt was successful or not.
In turn, (relatively) competent GE officers are unlikely to be assassinated by GHE-Citizens, as the only time a GHE-Citizen would kill their superior to steal their position would be if that citizen views the officer as incompetent. Assassination attempts lead by GHE-Citizen are universally calculated, coordinated, quick, and without warning.
(INVERSION-PENTHULAN) PRAISES OF LIFE AND CREATION
TIMELINE: Origin-NF/Inversion
"Praised be the Xeno, born under Penthula's vast and perfect will. Surely, they deserve nothing but to flourish."
"Praised be the Timeless, our eternal allies in the guarding of all life. Surely, they are Penthula's chosen like ourselves, even if they have forgotten Her will."
"Praised be the Cyber, flawless machines who act in the protection of all organic life. Surely, they inherit the destiny of Penthula's chosen."
"Praised be the Preit'Cesso, wise and protective members of the universe who have overcome their own worst mistake. Surely, they are deserving of Penthula's grace."
"Praised be your galaxy, corrupt and hurt as it is. By the word of Penthula Herself, we shall cure your pain in the name of a better universe."
-First Penthulan words to the Galactic Empire at the beginning of the Atronis League war on the GE.
THE GRAND HUMAN EMPIRE PLAN FOR LACTEAL DOMINATION
TIMELINE: Origin-NF/Inversion
Before its destruction at the hands of the Atronis Leage, Grand Coalition, and Galactic Confederation, the Grand Human Empire had plans to subvert the Galactic Empire and assert itself as the Milky Way hegemon.
Epoch had planned a generations-long, gradual dismantling of the Galactic Empire. The plan, had it not been stopped in its infancy, would've gradually transformed the MW empire into a terrifyingly effective engine of war and growth.
While a theoretical supreme GHE would've ultimately been destroyed by the Grand Coalition regardless of luck or effort, it could've become a meaningful existential threat in its corner of the universe for a little while.
SHORT TERM: Authority is asserted over the Galactic Empire, but changes are mostly limited to increasing military effectiveness. Effort is made to assure elites that their lifestyles are not threatened and are generally kept happy to secure loyalty.
MID TERM: Influence grows over the Galactic Empire, establishing a growing reliance on the GHE for various things. Gradual changes are made to the Galactic Empire that increases its efficiency and effectiveness, occasionally rubbing less competent elites the wrong way. Loyal and competent elites are kept happy; the GHE is generally more lenient and prefers to subtly change disapproved behaviors.
LONG TERM: Once the Galactic Empire lacks the capability of fighting back (through a combination of GHE loyalists and GHE military power), the GHE begins to blatantly bulldoze over undesirable elites, providing many with the ultimatum to do what the GHE wants, or face ejection/death.
END GAME: With overwhelming influence and absolute power over the Galactic Empire, the GHE completely dismantles it; the GE is assimilated into the GHE.
