Background

The SJPA-1 "Rushdown" is the FoGM's first fighter jet, made in haste to stand firm against the coming age of jets. The Rushdown is a highly capable dogfighter with a good armament (for its time) capable of standing up to the first generation of Drahosic and Iymarosi fighters...inside Greater Martil. It is also carrier-capable.

The Rushdown has one fatal flaw; it does not perform well outside Greater Martil. It has a low fuel capacity and both lengthy & costly maintenance, to the detriment of extraterritorial operations. It is feared by would-be invaders of Greater Martil...and nobody else. It's notorious for being like a large quick-burning fire; flashy and dangerous, but short-lived. Such exclusivity to Greater Martil operations lead to an early end to its production, though it will remain in service for some time longer in the form of modernization packages.

It remained in service until 1961, at which point its replacements had both been introduced. For a few years longer it would continue to operate exclusively in Greater Martil, until all remaining Rushdowns were either decomissioned or sold to civilians.

The lesson: to be a superpower, one needs to be able to be able to maintain their equipment across the world.
