After the 2nd Galactic War, a large number of the high-raking officials among the Kreltpakt were executed.
They most likely would have almost entirely seen death, had it not been for the Grandhold, who saved the lives of a small number of Kreal officials and a rather high number of Dhatri. In spite of immense political pressure from the Coalition and even some MTTAA members, the Grandhold refused to hand over any prisoners of war to be tried for execution.
The reason? Ideology. The Grandhold views execution among the absolute worst crimes that could be done to a sapient, regardless of what said individuals are guilty of.
Of course, none of them got away without consequences. All and more (thanks to forced memory reading) of who had been convicted in the original continuity were placed into rehabilitation, and more than a few underwent forced personality modification.
It remains an exceptionally controversial part of recent galactic history. Had things gone differently, it could have lead to the Grandhold willingly isolating itself from most of the Milky Way.
