SECTION 1
ABSTRACT

The founding species of the Grandhold of Abyss developed similarly to most sapient species, diverging from most in the total destruction of their homeworld's biosphere. The recovery period after was tumultuous, before the Grandhold-Human nation-states unified into the Grandhold of Abyss and ultimately thrived, expanding across the galaxy at a considerable pace while overall managing frontier instability.

The vast majority of Grandhold history is invariably stable and utopic. Technological and cultural stagnation also mark the vast majority of Grandhold history. Its arrival to the alternate Milky Way, in addition to recent advancement into Phi-Matter technologies, has resulted in notable cultural vibrancy.

SECTION 2
KEY

This document contains special terms that non-citizens may be confused by. The meaning of said terms are listed in this section.

AGE: An arbitrarily long span of time defining a cultural, societal, and technological timespan.

ERA: A span of time defining a particular portion of an Age.

PERIOD: An arbitrary, usually short transitional span of time often between different Ages and Eras. The modern time is always considered to be a Period, due to the inherent uncertainty of the future.

SECTION 3
SUMMARY

Age of Chaos, Era of Formation

The story of the human species began with the Age of Chaos, which itself began with the evolution of the early Homo Sapiens. Early humans were initially entirely indistinct from their homeworld's nature, before grouping together into socially-primitive tribal societies.

Age of Chaos, Era of Civilization

After a few ten-thousand years of tribal existence, the human species began to develop into larger communities, primarily around sources of water as a basis of agriculture. The invention of agriculture enabled humans to move away from hunter-gatherer subsistance and live among one-another in larger groups. Early civilization was thus born, eventually transitioning away from archaic forms of society to more modern nation-states. Culture and technology developed slowly for millennia.

Age of Chaos, Era of Destruction

A breakthrough in energy generation initiated a rapid and continuous period of technological and cultural advancement that fundamentally changed the nature of the human species for the remainder of time. The majority of pre-Grandhold technologies were developed during the Era of Destruction, including space travel. Close to the end of the Era of Destruction, the various human nations triggered an irreversible and total collapse of Earth's ecosystem and biosphere, forcing an evacuation of the world into the outer solar system.

Approximately 70% of the population, or roughly 7.7 billion individuals died during the colonization period; 40% of the original population died off on earth, and the other 30% were evacuated but died in the effort of system colonization. The remaining 30%, a little over 3 billion, primarily settled Mars, Venus, and Jupiter's moons.

Unification Period

After surviving the death of Earth, the human nations gradually rebuilt their societies over the course of decades. The desperate conditions of the time forced humanity to come together and cooperate to avoid collapse, eventually resulting in the birth of powerful unification movements which ultimately resulted in the founding of the Grandhold of Abyss as the first wholly-unified humanity.

Age of Unity, Era of Consolidation

The Grandhold's control over all its territory was initially tenuous, with a constant instability on outer territorial regions due to various societal issues of the time. Decades more of time was spent resolving the countless internal issues of the Grandhold, though in the time separatist movements would be formed that would ultimately last millennia.

Once the Grandhold's most major problems had been ultimately resolved, technological development began to divert from bare survival necessities. Research ultimately culminated in FTL travel, which enabled the Grandhold to further consolidation efforts, resolve discontent and unrest, and improve unity of all types.

Age of Unity, Era of Expanse

The Grandhold eventually fully colonized the solar system. Now stable and thriving, efforts were eventually made to begin exploration and colonization of the galaxy. Over the course of millennia, Grandhold society gradually overcame its internal issues and approached the utopic culture it is in the contemporary period. Yet, instability lingered along the edge of inhabited space consistently until full galactic colonization.

Science of the Era of Expanse was dominated by the goal of improving human quality of life, especially in lifespan. The Era of Expanse is partially defined by that directed technological advancement as well.

Period of Falling Action

In the 24th millennium, colonization of the galaxy had reached total completion. Over the following centuries, the final vestiges of discontent originating from the early Grandhold were finally pacified, and the Grandhold culturally transitioned into its current state.

Age of Perfection

The Grandhold remained almost entirely unchanged throught the Era of Perfection, entering a period of major cultural stagnation that coincided with the end of meaningful technological advancement known as the Final Stagnation. The Era of Perfection is therefore defined by an apparent unending state of utopic cohesion, societal bliss, and absolute stagnation.

Phi Period
(Contemporary Period)

A few decades ago, gradual improvements in the understanding of physics resulted in an unprecedented breakthrough in Phi-Matter, further resulting in rapid technological growth in the form of Phi-Matter technological applications. Said technological growth has inspired an abrupt re-invigoration and de-stagnation of culture largely around the new discoveries around Phi-Matter.

[SECTION 5.0 LOCKED]

Following integration into the alternate Milky Way, cultural development has further accelerated, large in part due to the sheer number of other comparatively ultra-dynamic cultures in contact with the Grandhold.
