SECTION 1
ABSTRACT

Antimatter is one of the oldest methods of transporting energy, and remains to be the single best way to transport energy across any meaningful distance. Antimatter's adoption as the supreme method of energy transport was a gradual process taking several breakthroughs before it attained its modern ubiquitous status.

SECTION 2
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The Grandhold has been utilizing Antimatter for economic purposes since date [562-5-15], near-exclusively for extreme-efficiency energy storage and transportation. Use of antimatter was, initially, rare, and only used on large-scale projects, due to the dangerous nature of antimatter, with occasional extensive damage caused by the improper use of antimatter.

Containment technologies gradually improved, with a notable major breakthrough on date [698-6-27], with the discovery of an entirely new, more secure method of storing antimatter, that resulted in the use of antimatter becoming significantly more commonplace as an energy-generation medium, primarily for large structures, such as mega-cities and colony ships. Antimatter as an energy source was limited in its maximum scope, due to a low number of sources of antimatter.

As the Grandhold of Abyss expanded, along with the further development of automation technologies, the supply of antimatter gradually grew faster than the collective energy-consumption of the Grandhold, allowing antimatter to be used in more projects, most notably smaller-scale ones. By date [1000-1-1], over 60% of Grandhold ships used antimatter as primary means of energy-generation. By date [1600-1-1], all Grandhold ships utilized antimatter.

The improvement of antimatter-containment technologies began to stagnate after date [2286-9-28], with the growth of antimatter-usage stopping on date [2341-6-1], whereafter antimatter's usage remained constant for a long duration of time, primarily in starships, and for structures with no access to star-energy harvesters, with most other things receiving energy via solar-array-laser.

On date [5286-12-28], another new, even more secure method of storing antimatter was discovered, that allowed for the storage of antimatter in small volumes. The breakthrough resulted in a minor permanent spike of antimatter usage, with growth stagnating again on date [5396-6-6].

On date [12,896-7-18], a wholly new method of creating antimatter was discovered, allowing for the direct transformation of various forms of energy into raw antimatter, with no needed intermediary processes. Antimatter use experienced an unprecedented surge, with antimatter being used as an extremely efficient battery, allowing energy to be near-losslessly transferred from solar collectors to any point in the Grandhold of Abyss, eclipsing even solar-laser as the most efficient method of transporting energy by [13,724-6-19].

SECTION 3
CURRENT IMPACT

Currently, antimatter is used as the primary method of transporting, storing, and using energy. Most antimatter is stored in the form of anti-lead due to being the most dense of indefinitely-stable elements. Antimatter remains the most efficient method of transporting energy, though that is subject to change with the advent of Phi-Matter technologies.

Anti-Neutronium remains the single most by-volume efficient method of transporting energy, though its use is limited to extremely power-hungry devices due to the high cost in maintaining stability.

As of date [1,016,658-6-22], over 99.96% of used energy originates from antimatter created from solar collector output. The remainder is used by solar collectors during operation.

Antimatter is the second most popular form of propulsion generation, behind Delta-Impulse, for antimatter propulsion's higher potential kinetic output.
